Mellie is a children’s/family TV producer, script writer, script editor and consultant.
Together with her partner, Jan Page, they set up Adastra Creative, an independent production company which has produced five series of top rated, BAFTA nominated CBeebies show GRANDPA IN MY POCKET. Series five is due to transmit early in 2014. Recently HA HA HAIRIES, Adastra’s latest show, has launched on Cartoonito UK, s4c and Cartoon Network channels in Europe/Middle East and Africa.
Mellie script edited Tiger Aspect’s award winning animation adaptation of Lauren Child’s CHARLIE & LOLA books for the BBC and Disney channel. She was Head Writer and Creative Producer/Show Runner on Jim Henson’s Bafta winning pre-school series THE HOOBS, and has written extensively over the years for all the leading kid’s entertainment companies including HIT, Jim Henson, Entertainment Rights, and Granada.

GRANDPA IN MY POCKET (Adastra Creative/CBeebies)
Original live action pre-school comedy. Mellie Buse and Jan Page wrote and produced the series through their own production company, Adastra Creative www.adastracreative.com. Four further series have now been produced making a total of 118 episodes. It has sold to 104 Countries Worldwide and is the highest rating show in the UK and Australia for its target demographic.

GRANDPA IN MY POCKET STAGE SHOW – “Teamwork!”
Nottingham Playhouse 13th July – 11th August 2012 then a tour of UK theatres in Summer 2013. Mellie Buse and Jan Page have co-written the stage production of “Grandpa in my Pocket” which premiered at Nottingham in the Summer of 2012. The national tour in 2013 played to brilliant reviews.
THE HA HA HAIRIES
New flagship pre-school commission from Turner Europe. Created and developed by Adastra, the series began airing across Europe, Middle East and Africa from May 2012. It is Turner Broadcasting’s first EMEA pre-school commission and after only a month on air it is rating at number 1 in Italy, 2 in Sweden and 4 in the UK on Cartoon Network channels. The Ha Ha Hairies has been nominated for a Children’s Bafta 2012 in the Pre-School Live Action category.
It won the Welsh Bafta in 2013 in the Visual Effects Category.
